If it's true, this is hillarious for what was supposed to be a "Security Centered"update

Nothing wrong with ME, I still have 2 machines running it,

I only went to XP on this one because I want the 64 bit version when ( if ever ) it becomes available for the 64 bit processor I run in this one.

After reading that article, it seems to me that the bug will only affect you if you are using the widnows firewall. I am using a third party app.

Is that the idea you picked up as well?

Like I said before, I'll wait a wee bit (maybe a month or two) and see what shakes out before I go installing an SP on a PC thats running fine.

Why is it that soooo many vulnerablilties that are found in MS's OS,s seem to be geared at letting people other than the owner, access to the contents of your PC ?
    Most people think,
Great God will come from the skies,
    Take away everything
    And make everybody feel high.
But if you know what life is worth,
You will look for yours on earth:
And now you see the light,
You stand up for your rights. jah!

Looks kind of "Mickey Mouse" to me. You have to have a certain configuration, you have to manually enable file and printer sharing and not password protect it, be on a network without using ICS or a router etc. . SP2 does not do this when you install it so how does installing SP2 open you up; looks like user error to me.

Remember, most users are errors. How you think some of us make a living ?

I think most will agree that SP2 is a huge improvement in security for windows. I think this story belongs with the ones described in this article http://www.securityfocus.com/columnists/265

Because going through people's data is infinetly more fun than turning their printer on and off.

After experimenting for a while, just enabling file and print sharing did not allow me to acces my files. I know my ISP address of my router, I have port forwarding enabled. I could not create the bug they are speaking of even knowing my passwords.

Maybe this is baecause I use a router with a firewall and also use Zone Alarm. I am not directly connected to my DSL line.

My point is that I am npot wrrited about this flaw. It should not affect me or any other user like me - what I mean is an educated user about PC security.
