    Can you set automatic shutdown?

    Morning Sysopers

Something I have been trying to find out…..does windows XP have any settings that you can set to turn you computer off automatically in a set time. For example… If I go out for the day and leave my PC converting movie files which may take an hour or two….can I set my computer to shut down and go off its self in 2 hours????

If you cant do this automatically through windows…is there any software which can let you do this.

    Thanks Y’all

ShutDownPro 1.136 (Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000 and XP) is excellent freeware and I use it and it works.

Check out the remaining programs too as they come highly recommended. For example, DFueTweaker 1.005 (Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000 and XP), HDCopy 2.104 (Windows 95, 98, Me).

There's also this tiny freeware program called WinDown that does what you want. I use it and I recommend it.

Thanks nothing, I've been looking for something like that too. For anyone who's too lazy to look for it themselves, you can get WinDown here:

It would take about 5 minutes to write a program or even a batch file to do this.

Go to a DOS prompt and type 'shutdown', it'll give you a list of command line parameters.

All you need to do is enter the correct parameters, and save the line in a text file, then rename it .bat.

Then schedule this with windows scheduler.
