LOL...OK...but I did wanted a reasonable answer...assumes it started with something like a tech chatroom or the like and grew.

Have you even done a search yet? This subject has come up before.

    Short story.
Scott (previous owner and creator) started Sysopt. Jupitermedia later bought it from Scott.

It does not need to go into greater detail.

first there was God. then there was light. then sysopt fell from the sky, as lucifer used it as a magic carpet towards hell.

As previously mentioned Scott Wainner founded sysopt. System optimization is what it stands for.

YOu can find out a bit more about it here.

    Scott Wainner
    Co-Founder & President/CEO
As the founder of SysOpt.com, a PC hardware site established in 1994 that was aimed at helping power users find the best hardware and to tweak their systems, Scott was responsible for overseeing all content creation, marketing, advertising sales, business partnerships, software development, and hardware manufacturer relationships, in connection with the site. At its peak, SysOpt was getting over 4.5 Million page views per month. He also founded ResellerRatings.com, a site that lets customers of online hardware retailers submit evaluations for those stores, so shoppers can make more informed decisions about where to buy.

In 1994 Scott founded SysOpt.com and later, ResellerRatings.com. In 1999 after years of profitability in an effort to obtain more resources, Scott transferred the sites to EarthWeb and stayed on board as Editor-in-Chief. And in December 2000, EarthWeb transferred the sites to Internet.com. Scott agreed to stay as Editor-in-Chief until Sept. 2001, when he was a casualty of budget reductions.

SysOpt.com was hugely successful. Under Scott's ownership from 1994 to 1999, the site was profitable, and maintained a very large and loyal community that continues to this day. Scott hopes to continue that tradition with TechIMO.com, co-founded on October 10, 2001. He is ecstatic to be back under his own power again as an entrepreneur and intends to make TechIMO a success.

Scott wasn't the only one that made SysOpt.com a success. Over the years a number of people came together to contribute to that site as freelancers or volunteers.

In his freetime, Scott enjoys road cycling, swimming, and spending time with family.
