    Patin Couffin Engine?

I thought this was installed with XP-SP2, but research points to it being a DVD ripping helper! I can't believe that M$ would be so accommodating - so I'm going to assume it came as part of my standard nForce2 UDP (international version) because I don't think I had installed any DVD software when I first noticed it!

Anyone else upgrade their nForce2 drivers recently and see this?

That comes with a specific cd/dvd burning application. I'm not exactly sure, but I think it came with copy2dvd/cd or something to that effect. I'm sure a little bit of googling will tell you what application it is that installed it there.

You're right Johnny - Googled it!

The "VSO Devices" category belongs to VSO Software, they make DVD "Back-Up" software and their Patin Couffin engine is widely used by other like-minded software houses.

But I'm still perplexed as to how it could have been installed before any DVD apps - maybe the new nforce2 package reconised my DVD writer and took the liberty of installing this little extra - maybe not!

I just wanted to understand where it came from! ho-hum.
