    Help Placing Heat Probes...

I have ordered a temperature monitor/fan controller that comes with 4 probes that report heat. They are flat probes not the globe ones. I read somewhere that you should slide them in between the pins on the processor but due to me having LGA775 my processor doesnt have pins. Should I place it between the heatsink and the top of the CPU? Also how would i go about placing them on the chipset and GPU?

    Thanks

I would not put anything but thermal gel between the cpu and heatsink. It could drastically effect cooling. You can glue it on the edge of the cpu with super glue, but bare in mind that the readings themself will only be a way to judge actual changes in the temperature not the actual temperature itself. The actual die temperature can only be quessed at. If you have ever noticed, different boards put the probes in different places and you get different readings. The hottest spot on the CPU is the die, not the ceramic it is encased in.
