Need C:\ format, but no Windows XP disc

Would it be possible to format C:\ without the Windows XP CD and have a whole new computer again, without any unstability ?

what are you talking about? what OS are you going to run then?

you can use a win98 floppy or something to reformat the drive.

A format will give you a nice virus free, clean, stable, empty hard drive. No issues with drivers, losing data, or any other tech support nightmare.

It will also look very good sitting on your desk with a pure black DOS screen and the C:\> prompt at the bottom.

Now, what will you do with a DOS computer?

You can also KILL the hard drive with killdisk or ZAP. Then you will have to re partition with Fdisk but it will be clean.

I have Compaq Presario 6000, about a year old now. Reason why I ask if it lets you do a system restore without using the Windows XP disc.

I have windows XP home edition BTW.. How much for a windows XP cd? Or u think i can just borrow one from a friend ?

try pressing f10 during startup to get to the recovery partition. otherwise, order the recovery cds from hp/compaq.

next time ask for exactly what you need, rather than speculating.
