Ad-aware's not the only program for elimination. There's also Spybot. And for prevention, there's SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard.

You should try those (update them first) and maybe CWShredder as well. You may want to consider HijackThis.

At the very least, get an online scan done, it may tell you something. Links are stickied.

This could be related to Trojans that generate pop ups and the like.

See the latest list from Moosoft. The developers of The Cleaner Pro V4.1

    Istbar 1527

One of my clients was inundated with porn popups. I used Pest Patrol www.pestpatrol.com and found many of the above on his machine.

It is the best spyware/adware and more, detector and remover.

There is also a tool called Spywareblaster.....and it is a good program that you run once and set the settings for your internet...and it will list all of the most current spyware around for you to be able to block....It also has an auto update feature or if you like you can do it manually...Generally a very clean and nice program so that the spyware won't invade your system in the first place...and its free...
I believe you can get it frim Majorgeeks.com or Guru3D.com

One thing to make yur system less prone to these attacks is to go into your Internet Options in the control panel and make sure you do not have the ActiveX controls on as this is what they use mostly. This can be found under the security tab and then go to the custom botton at the bottom. Make sure these boxes are not checked.
Depending upon if you want to surf the net and allow more open windows...or less ..then be sure to use the default setting or you can block cookies..which is another safety feature.....

Programs such as HIjack This and CW Shredder are free and it will search for the hijackers and let you remove them by the program automatically.

I would use Google as you can put the search bar into your IE and it has a free popup control..and it works...
Right now mine says it has blocked 63 popups ( as I am writing this...

It seems as though the pesky viruses like to invade a persons system s soon as it is up and running..they don't waste any time
They probably have an auto search mechanism that tires to find those who are vulnerable at the moment...

try either g's program or this one..or oth would not hurt..and i bet you will have far less troubles with these..

If your still using Firebird then upgrade to Firefox .8 .

Ditto, what sm8000 advised . You need layered protection ... Spybot S&D , SpywareBlaster, Spyware Guard , and a good real time AV . Configure them all for full protection. Keep them updated daily and scan daily.

As for cleaning out the problem , you should clean all your Temps. Then run CWShredder in safe mode. Then Adaware and Spybot. Reboot each time .
Last, run Hijackthis and use Google to chase down anything left your not sure of. If you get stuck you can post back .

Mozilla or netscape doesn't get spyware, you must have gotten this stuff before switching to mozilla and it just keeps perpetuating itself cause its still in your system.

Turn on its popup blocker and do the scans like everybody mentioned.

I recently did a fresh install of window XP. And only used IE to go straight to www.mozilla.org then download the program and never used IE eversnice. Yet I'm geting all those spyware. But no pop up. It did on my other computer before I fresh installed that computer. Less than 24 hours after the fresh install happened 214 item was found by ad-aware . All that in less 24 hours.

Anyway I gonna try those programs that been suggested and see what happen.

    right now I am using
Firefox .7 gonna upgrade in a moment.
    Ad-aware 6 with lastest update
    SpywareBlaster with lastest update
    AVG 6.0 with lastest update
    Ad-aware found 7 spyware

I will install the other programs shortly. I gotta check my other comp first.

    Thank you guys!

Something i never check ( don't know why) is often they use some open port in your system. If you could find which ports they are using..then you culd close these...

For help here on the above...maybe someone here could help with this as i don't know much about how to do this...but I believe I have a program ..uninstalled somewhere in my downloads that does this....If I find it I will get it to you.

It coud be a cookie, check to make sure that adaware is reporting programs and registry entries not just benign cookies

Bullion has a point, if your including cookies as spyware, those will be read and misleading, turn off cookies for awhile and see whats being picked up.

I'm not getting very much spyware. I'm on cable and my provider
supplies spam blocking which includes E-Mail virus protection.
