    VIRUS PROBLEM

Ok, Here is what I have for viruses……………..

    · Trojan horse Revop.C

    · Downloader.lstbar.3.be

    · Bd114122(1).exe……….and more!

    · Restore files messed up, I can’t remove these.

These seem to be coming from something called “Internet Optimizer” for my best guess. I just formatted this PC because of the same problem.

My kids use AOL chat room on there, so I wonder if there is a connection, or if someone has seen this?

I do use AVG anti virus on 2 other PC’s without this problem.

    Thanks for your reply’s.

Internet Optimizer is adware , so Adaware and Spybot should remove it or you can try the manual approach
    http://www.kephyr.com/spywarescanner...er/index.phtml
    http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/InternetOptimizer.html

    Removal
    Adaware

    Spybot S&D

Install, Update , Fix all .

    Prevention :
    SpywareBlaster
    SpywareGuard

Google Toolbar , keep them from clicking on those popups in IE .

For the virus' and trojans , you need Anti Virus software . Try running AVG in safe mode .

Another good AV is AntiVir ,

    Hello jkac,

It sounds like it might be spyware.. your kids might be clicking on links in those chatrooms that might be causing pop-ups with spyware, etc.

Goto the "Best of General Support" -- http://www.sysopt.com/forum/showthre...hreadid=161469

    Look for:

    FREE PROGRAMS TO REMOVE SPYWARE
    (When installed, update before running)

    SPYBOT SEARCH AND DESTROY

    ADAWARE
Run both of these programs and it will probably find something.

Also, if you feel that AVG is not doing a good job, I saw this deal on McAfee's software:

    Jawa

    Edit: Beat me to it.

some viruses have files that run at startup. by running in safe mode, those files won't load and antivirus can delete them. windows doesn't allow you to delete files while they are in use.
