Can't configure Athlon XP2800 for A7S333
My son needs some help setting up a new AMD Athlon XP2800 CPU on his Asus A7S333 MB. The board is set to jumper free mode but he's not sure what to set the frequency multiplier and CPU/PCI frequency settings to. Does someone know what the settings should be for this processor.
Asus A7S333 MB
256MB 333 DDR memory
Windows XP home edition
Thanks for any help

The A7S333 doesn't support 166MHz FSB so it's not going to support the XP2800. You won't have much success trying to OC the m/b either, since there's no 1:5 divider.

Sorry for the error, it's the 2600XP 2.13 GHz. But still can't reach max processor speed.

What actually happens when you try the 16x multiplier with 133MHz (266DDR) FSB? No boot, or is the processor speed being misreported?

With the XP2600 there are several versions. There are 166 and 133MHz FSB Tbreds as well as a newer 166MHz FSB Barton (might also be 133MHz FSB Mobile Athlon version as well). So the key is to identify exactly which processor you have. Only the 133MHz FSB version(s) will be supported. For this the FSB should be set to 133MHz, although if it's set to 'Auto' or 'Speed' it should be automatically identified and set to the appropriate speed. You might also want to check for the necessary BIOS revision to correctly identify the processor.
