    Cpu buss speed

    Hi, Is is possible to run 133 fsb processors at 100 fsb? I have a SuperMicro P6DBU Mobo with Dual Slot 1 PII 300 66Mhz processors. I would like to upgrade the processors to the max that the Mobo will accept. The docs say PIII 1Ghz 100mhz processors.
    Most of the processor pairs on ebay are 133mhz. If 133 will work, what is required? How about those that are not Slot 1? I'm guessing that any thing faster would be an improvement. Do you have a recommendation? Thanks, TH

    I wouldn't get the 133s because the multipliers are locked at a LOWER number. instead of 10x100, they are 7.5x133. IF they worked, they would only run at 7.5x100=750.

    If they are not slot1, then you would have to make sure they are coppermine cores. Some of the 1g/133s are Tualatins, which won't run on your board.

    Bottom line is get Slot1 1G/100 cpus if you can find them. Don't pay too much for them either, or else it would be better to just get a new Athlon XP or P4 system.
