Mike don't work
Hi folks
I got my friend a mike for his computer, but can't seem to make it work.
His m/b is Asus A7V333, and os is XPHome.
I plug it in and go into sounds and audio - voice, his onboard sound card shows, Audio works OK, but when I test the mike hardware, it says no mike detected. This mike works OK on my own computer.
I do have it plugged into the pink socket.
Any ideas please

If you haven't already...
control panel > sounds and multimedia.
then audio tab, go to "volume"
then "options > properties"
select the "recording" radio button is checked.
tick microphone box.
Then ok that window, and tick the "select" box under microphone.

Just in case someone else has this problem the problem was: He had his audio configured for 5 speaker sorround sound,
I changed it to two speaker stereo desktop and viola mike working.

If he still wants surround sound, he'll have to get a separate audio card.
