    internet security

    In winxp home i can disable my local area connecion. While disabled, i cannot access the net nor get my email. Am I totally disconnected from the net just as if I unplugged my dsl modem ?

    No! you have to have the ISP or internet connection enabled.

    one of things i like about cable using a motorola sb4200
    cable modem i can hit the button on top and i'm disconnected
    from the net


    my brother who has dsl has to disconnect from the net
    manually

    i believe you can lock down your firewall if you have one
