    Quicktime 6.5 question

I was wondering if anyone knew how to remove quicktime 6.5 from the startup toobar. Its not under the programs/startup menu, but it appears in the startup toolbar. I only use it with certain applications so I don't need it running all the time. The older versions didn't have this problem, but I've heard that once you've updated to 6.5 the earlier versions won't even play even after uninstalling. I haven't found anything remotely close under the preference options. I imagine that this is one of the drawbacks to being a free player.
I'm running windows xp. If anyone knows how to fix this problem I would like to know.

Right-click the icon and select Quicktime Preferences. Use the drop-down menu to select Browser Plugin. Uncheck the system tray icon.

Don't be surprised if it puts itself back on there. I had a hard time getting Quicktime to stop starting itself up.

MSCONFIG is temporary for troubleshooting. Yank it from the registry.

That should work. Unless you uncheck it here unchecking within msconfig won't help

True, however Quicktime re-adds the QTTASK.EXE to the startup process everytime you open quicktime player in windows, as such, after every time you watch a quicktime file, you would have to open up Msconfig and uncheck Qttask
