I think you meant socket 462. Socket A and 462 are the same thing.
Yes, there is no Socket 642. Socket 7 = 321 pins Socket 370 = Pentium 3's and Celerons Socket 423 = older Pentium 4's Socket A = 462 pins (Athlons & Durons) Socket 478 = newer Pentium 4's (also P4-based Celerons) Socket 603 = P4-based Xeons Socket 754 = Athlon 64 Socket 940 = Opteron
