    DVD or fast CR-RW?

Now that CD-RW's are at rock bottom prices and DVD-RW's are getting ever cheaper, I am wondering whether its worth getting a faster CD-RW, say a CD running at 52x read, 32 / 24 rw and 52 write to replace my working but "slow" 40x read, 12x rw and 16x write.

My old CD-RW cost me £60. A new faster model will cost a mere £25.

On the other hand a DVR-RW can be had for less than £100.

CD-RW's may be on their last legs tech wise.

Plus the "What the hell" factor of owning a DVD-RW is tempting even though I can't think of what I'd fill a DVD with....yet....

What do you chaps recommend, a DVD-RW or faster CD-RW?

CDRW has an advantage, media is cheap so is the drive.

My friend here bought Liteon 8x a little while ago, but he is now using it more to write CDR's than DVD's...and watching DVD's.

DVDRW's have lower cd write speeds compared to the faster cd writers available atm.

i say both. combo drives suck. get a good cd burner, and get a good dvd burner. you cant really find both in one drive

Likewise, if your not going really do any dvd burning, why spend the money on something your not going to really use. Plus you'll gain the write speed time.
