Icon Text not Transparent on Desktop

Icon Text not Transparent on Desktop

i'm an having problems changing my icons back to it transparent state. for some reason one day they decided to change to the old win 98 style with the solid coloured background. i tried fixing them by way of the tutorial above, although, they still remain the same. any other suggestions on fixing this?

    thanks

Try Control Panel->System->Advanced tab->Performance Settings->Visual Effects and select the "Let Windows choose what's best for my computer" option. Click Apply, then OK.

Are you using an XP theme for your desktop, or a classic view?

    Good find, Swordfish.

After looking...I thought I had an easy answer for this...guess not.

Don't use Active Desktop...I guess is the answer...

    read it again carefully.

Setting a Web page as the active desktop, or using a transparent or animated GIF image can cause this.
that was the part not there in your link.

I am guessing here since i am not on XP right now.

    Right click the desktop
    Select "Properties"
    Select the "Desktop" tab
    Press the\"Customize Desktop" button
    Select the "Web" tab
    Uncheck all listed items.

    hope that works out.

Found out all i needed to do was right click on the desktop and uncheck "Lock Web Item on Desktop" via the Arrange Icons.
