    Cable mess

    Guys

Sure Ive asked this before somewhere...but have never got round to sorting it. (This is where we need a case mod forum)

Anyone got any ideas what I can do with all the redundant power supply cables and general spaghetti junction in my case....have a look see...

I have tried tidying them up...but never really worked. Any ideas appreciated.

    Cheers

I've seen some people take the wires around the back of the mobo and fasten them behind there. Made the case look really nice and neat.

Try running them between the motherboard try and the other side of the case if you have the room. My brother has enough room in his case and has done this.

Get a bunch of colorful twist caps. Cut off extra cables and connect them back with twist caps. You won't have messy extra cables

That sounds a bit extreme. Is it safe. You got any pictures of these?

There is a spiral wrap product that will contain the wires into a bundle. It comes in several sizes and several colors. I found some at my local electronics surplus house.

look under cables and accessories. Using this along with wire ties cleaned up most of my mess and I would like to believe that it improved my airflow.
    Enjoy!

Just loop all of your extra cables together into an 8-bundle and wrap them in a twist tie or velcro strap. It's really the only convenient solution for a case that doesn't have an extra cable bypass room like the FS020 does.

Done right, it looks very clean and professional.

I dont' have cable mess but I've done this alot with regular electrical cable in house. So it should work in theory.

It looks to me as if you have decided to allow your mobo to remain cable free at the expense of the cable mess above.

When I cabled my new system I spent many hours cabling and thinking about the compromises to make in order to have an overall good effect with cable mess not at the expense of any visible area unduly.

I distributed the cables according to a prior list. Overall, I have a mobo that is pretty cable free too.

I have a huge amount of gear in my Lian-Li PC-70 (which is huge) but case is not that small either.

I would reappraise the location and sighing of cables again.

Also use connected cables to hide unused ones. It takes some planning and thought but you can still get a nice effect. However, the more gear you have the more cables you have to deal with and the bigger the problem becomes.

Just take your time and bundle them neatly, then zip-tie them to the rail.

God you should see my machine!!! Cripes, it looks like a rats nest compared to yours BBL. But then I have 4 hd's, 1 cdr, 1 dvd r, 1 fdd, 3 case fans and a 9800 pro with iceberg cooling and an additional fan on the memory!. I need a leaf blower to just get mild circulation through my case!
