    Speakers to headset ???

    I have a puzzler here,,,On my wifes PC the speakers and mic work fine,,But If I plug a headset in I get nothing. I have tested the headsets on my pc, they work fine. Her speakers work fine, her mic works fine, but a headset doesnt. What am I overlooking here. KT7a with ac97 Codec and integrated sound,

    Is there a separate jack for headsets?..or do you use the speaker jack?

    I use the speaker jack,,,There are no separate jacks on it for a headset.

    One input and only one output? That is very unusual. The speaker out you are using must be a line out.

    Is the plug on the speaker wire the same as the plug on the headset plug...maybe one is monaural and one is stereo?

    Looks like picard hit this one. On on PC you are using a speaker out. The other is a line out.

    Liine out is a very low level signal designed to be used with powered speakers. You volume is too low in the unpowered headset for you to hear it prolly.
