    Best OEM 9800pro

I have a 9500np softmodded to 9700 with no issues whatsoever and i'm happy with the performance. The thing is, i have a spare couple of hundred quid and i was thinking of buying a 9800pro.

    My question is threefold.

    1. Should i bother, i.e. will i see a big performance gain?
    2. What's the best OEM manufacturer of that card and how much should i expect to spend?
    3. Should i go for "Built by ATI"?

    Thanks guys

Not enough of a performance boost to warrant the cah outlay IMO, wait at least another generation or two

Get yourself two nice fast sata 10k rpm raptor drives instead and run them in raid. You'll see a diff if you have IDE- least its a better upgrade then 9500pro to 9800pro is and about the same $. Till you get low fps or have to lower IQ there is no point in a new video card. I mean they will only get cheaper and offer more of a upgrade per $ as time goes on. I payed $250 for the 9800NP (NOT SE ****). There was a time the 9500pro was that much! Soon the 9800pro will cost that with the XT's out. Id wait even if only 6 months it will be worth it. Then gun for a XT 9800-instant oclock right from ATI! Dont get better then that! and ya still got your warrenty plus know the cards doing all she can without pushing itself too much. XT's got a good thing going-I hope ati keeps the trend going in future cards. Will stop folks oclocking burning their cards cause its already doing it for you. Just stop the noobies from costing ati $ in fake RMA's. That and false driver heat issues and such due to tampered cards interfering with drivers. Im all for it!

I agree that your money is probably best spent elsewhere. A 9500 to 9700 is still a great card, and the performance gains arent worth the money. If you do go with a 9800pro, the BBA is top notch.

I'll trade you my TI4400 for your card. Then you'll have a better justification on getting that 9800 Pro... No need to thank me, i'm all for helping the community out.

spend your money on more games. even if you just had a 9500np 128Mb thats still a good card. can play any game out there on highest settings at 1024x768. anyways, unless you can sell your 9700 for around the same price, just get more games or something else for ur computer. what are your system specs?

you could get a 7.1 sound card and get creative's new inspiron 7.1 speakers. i would recommend a hercules fortissimo 7.1. the whole bundle is about $200 at newegg. surround sound gaming is a whole new experience. (DVDs are awesome too).
