Questions on RDRAM ? Pls HELP.
Hi Guys
One of my colleague(computer A) has 4x64 RIMM(Rambus) installed on his machine which is use to write memo on Ms Word and easy files on Excel. while my other colleague has big jobs to do in SQL script which has only 2x64 RIMM.
Problem :
when I remove the 2x64 RIMM from A and in place of the 2x64 RIMM empty slot, I put the 2 pieces (C-RIMM ) which I took from other computer) then, COMPUTER A is not abelto boot.. So I am obliged to return back the 2x64 RDRAM and it goes ON.
I tried again to remove the 2x64 RIMM and ensure that I properly inserted the 2 pieces stuff for the empty 2 RIMM slots but again, NOT BOOT.
What could be the problem? please help.

I think you mean CRIMMs when you say "2 pieces stuff".
what are the RIMMs rated at? in most cases, you cannot mix and match RIMMs.
so you're trying to give one guy 4 64s and the other guy 2 64s? why don't you just do a 4 for 4 swap?

re
thanks for your post.
All the 6 pices RIMM are rated 64

so when you take #3 and #4 out of the A comp
and try and put in the stupid terminating fillers
A won't boot
----------------
does it HAVE to have fillers ???? ( rambus is such a pain )
maybe Midknyte is onto something -- could the fillers be speed rated ????
OR are you taking out the right 2
should it be # 1 and # 2 out and replaced with fillers
obviously the main prob is the A comp
i'll look at a few rambus motherboard manuals for info
you wouldn't HAPPEN to know Make / Model for those two computers ????

rambus tutorial - page 23 of manual for asus p4te
http://www.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock...e/p4te-101.pdf
A - 1 ( 64 rimm module )
A - 2 ( c - rimm )
B - 1 ( 64 rimm module )
B - 2 ( c - rimm )
they say that channel A & B ( have ) to be twins
so the 2 ram modules should be identical
-----------------
ARE these ( 6 total ) rimm's ALL identical ?????
so for the one with four modules
then a1 = b1 and a2 = b2
