Barton 2500 - L2 cache not active in XP
I've read that the 512 KB L2 cache isn't active in XP without a little fiddling in the registry. Is that true ???.

No idea, but there's a tip at http://www.technobabble.com.au/techn...ks/access2.htm
that suggests it might occasionally be true. Scroll down to the L2 Cache Tweakage section.

My L2 cache was already set optimally. I've just tried the bandwidth tweak and initial results look good.
Thanks fishybawb; have one on me ...

THANK YOU! Both of those were disabled in my system, and the L2 cache made a noticeable difference in boot times.

I noticed no changes in any types of benches ran after that tweak, though I did notice XP boots faster. My guess is that at it's default value it detects the speed while it is booting up somewhere along the line going by that.
