    Looking for a DLL?

Does anyone know of a utility (freeware is always nice <g> ) that, given a dll, will report the programs (and other dll's) using it?

I have an app (ZoneLog Analyser http://zonelog.co.uk examines/reports ZA LogFile ) that has stopped working with a 'can't load MSJTER35.DLL' message.

Used to work ok (before what I'm not sure).

I'd like to find out what MSJERT35.DLL is all about before going too far (I've used sfc to restore it but that hasn't helped).

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    Geo.

    Try this .

Looks like the d/l link's dead. I use a small shell extension made by Johannes Plachy years ago. Might try searching for his last name w/a Google search.

Here is what the program microsoft file information says.

Microsoft Jet Database Engine Dynamic Link Library.

In win98 it is listed as file location WIN98_35.CAB.

The way to find out a little about the windows cab file system is to install the windows resource kit. It is on your windows cd. Just put your disk in. Shut it down on auto run. The go to the run button and browse the cd. It is located in the tools folder/reskit. Install it. The program your looking for in this suite is called Microsoft file Information. You can find files by eather file first letter or file extension. Once you have the windows location if sfc doesn't replace a file. All you do is put in the file location like I listed above. It will replace it then. Make sure you install it from a windows disk of the same program. Win98 and SE has some files in different places.

Here is a good site to book mark.
    http://support.microsoft.com/directory/

    I also found this page.
    http://sup port.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q87/9/34.ASP?LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0&qry=%20%20not%20loading%20MSJTER32.D LL%20&rnk=196&src=DHCS_MSPSS_gn_SRCH&SPR=W98SE
I didn't find much about the file you were asking about. I even went thru here and couldn't find it.

i used to have a prog, called DLL View, that showed all the running processes on your computer and what dll's they were calling on. Perhaps you can still find it, the prog was called DLL View, so a search at download.com or google will probably turn it up or something similiar.

Thanks for all of the tips and references - they helped fill in some background and were useful links.

BFlurie - thanks that looked like just the thing I wanted - I found it at http://www.programfiles.com/index.asp?ID=8913.

Anyway I was able to correct the situation by moving all instances of msjter35.dll out of the way and then re-installing Windows Resource Kit - that allowed my ZoneLog Analyzer to run ok.

    Thanks for the support.

Thanks - I have one already - called DLL Show - works pretty good.

The DLL Informant that Bflurie pointed me to maps all DLL's - seems to do pretty much what I was looking for. Would be nice to have one that reported in he other direction - EXE's use these ...

GSalisbury, the old freeware shell extension Plachy wrote is very simple & does exactly what you want -- r-click any .dll or .exe file & view the .dlls it uses. If you want I'll email you the 2 simple files to install it.

BFlurie - I got the two files and installed them as noted - thanks - they work just fine and report what I wanted to know.

Interestingly, when I apply them to my original failing app the MSJTER35.DLL isn't listed anywhere in the tree - curious - but I got it to so my eyes are closed.

Again, thanks - good addition to the tool kit.

BTW I did a google search on the PESX.ZIP file name and found a couple of hits that still had the file (IYI).
