So how well are those 3200s clocking?
Just wondering how well the latest and probably last Athlons are overclocking, anyone played with one yet?

Although i cant back this up with numbers, i doubt theyre doign great.
Firstly theyre 200Mhz FSB chips, most boards, other than the v2.0 8rda+'s cant go much over this level, meaning theres not a lot of headroom for playing about with, and even on the 8rda+ which ive seen doign 250Mhz FSB, these high FSB's arent a certainty. Also, the 3200+ is unlocked but wont accept multipliers over 11x
Also as the final incarnation of a paticular chip architecture heat and whatnot is likely to be a big factor on these boys, as with the 1.4Ghz Tbirds, they were the end of the line and as such didnt overclock well at all due to the large level of heat they out out and the fact they were already pushing the chip architecture to its limits.
If you want a high base to start overclocking from the 3000+ is probably a better place to look as its a 333 FSB chip, you got a lot more headroom in regards to FSB overclocking

Yeah I wouldn't have expected 'em to oc too well for exactly those reasons, always nice to see some numbers though.

So they locked it at 11 instead of 12.5? The 3000 is also a good buy if your watercooling (or don't mind a 190 CFM 120mm delta screamer modded to an SLK 900). The 3000 is unlocked and has to take multiples higher than 12.5, else it wouldn't be able to reach it's speed at 333 fsb.

If you want to overclock a Barton... Look no further than a 2500+ They can be had for under $100 and can overclock to 3200+ speeds with very little problems.
