    Diablo 2 LOD: Need help

    I'm having problems with D2:LOD.

    System specs:
    Windows XP
    2.4GZ Processor
    512MB ram
    ATI GeForce vid card

Problem is it just keeps freezing. like once every 5 minutes or so, it freezes up on me from anywhere to 10 through a good 20 seconds... very annoying. At first I just formatted my computer, because it needed it anyways. That didnt help. I then bought a new modem, thinking it was that, but it even happens offline in single player mode, so thats not the problem... I've updated my video card and soundcard... I don't know what's left to do to stop it from skipping like it is. I have no other outside applications running, so its not my RAM...

Is there anything else I can check on, or update to try to fix this problem?

    Thanks in Advance.
    Rick

    Freezes??

Did you have other programs running at the same time when you are playing Diablo 2: LOD??

Did you switch off your ZoneAlarm firewall or anything that is taking up a lot of memory space?

You better do a brief check before playing the game again.

Yep, I turned everything off... everything, through msconfig.

Anything else you can think of that may be causing this?

    Thanks.

He's right! If everything fails, contact Blizzard and ask for technical support. Don't wait anymore!

Blizz tech support is a joke.

I called them, the guy runs me through some tests, that I already tell him are NOT going to work. But, I do it anyways, in the end he says, "Sorry, I don't know what the problem is... I'll send you some stuff to your email thatll let us know more info on your system and we'll get back with you."

    I never got any e-mail.

Was just wondering if you guys knew something that I didn't.
My graphics card is the one that came factory with my Compaq computer, heh...

    Thanks for the input.

    Maybe he meant nVidia Radeon.

You sure it not Geforce MX or something? Cause I used to have an MX long time ago and it crashes diablo 2 LOD all of the time.

I doubt its the graphic card, Because the game doesn't require 3d, Even my i810(intergrated graphics) can handle this game easily.

Try the blizzard tech support forums, Its very helpful, i never tried contacting them, because i always had my problem solved in the forum.

Yeah, you could try switching the graphics mode, from direct3d, to directdraw, or vice versa.. only thing I can think of, It runs very stable on my system with the 1.09d update.. it crashed once or twice without

I also have a problem with D2: LOD. The problem used to happen before I got the expansion as well.

My system does not always freeze. Sometimes it will crash with a error saying: Error decrompressing sprite.

My experience with Blizzard was useless - tech forums and all. I also updated my video card, made multiple driver changes, and did various other things to try and fix the problem. Used DirectDraw and Direct 3D. All did no good.

This is a problem that may not be solved easily. I still have not solved my issue. I simply save every time I reach a WP. Only work around that is going for me.

More of stutters than freezing is what I got. Till I got 512mb ram. On 256mb it would stutter frequently. With a 2200+ and ati 8500 OR my G3 orig. Both would do it. Its a 2d sprite based game (wanna be 3d! to programers). So video is pretty much not the prob here. For me the only solution was 512mb ram which is prolly due to all the moving in the map? Dunno?
