    Rise of Nations won't Display!!

I have a PC with an older Geforce2 MX 400 video card. Got Rise of Nations, and it updated my DirectX to DirectX 9.0. When I run the program, my monitor blacks out. I can tab back to the Desktop and close the program there, but I can't get it to display the game. Is my video card incompatible with DX9, or is this a monitor issue (a 17" no-name)?

it's not your monitor that's for sure - but if it's an older one when you're messing with display resolutions don't use something that the monitor can't handle - then you WILL have a problem

Dude! You have the same problem as I have b4.

Search for a thread that talks about Monitor or Resolution in Display Cards and Monitors section in this forum. There will be people helping you out! I don't think it's your system's fault. I think it's your display refresh rate and resolution.

    Try out lower refresh rates!

I'd upgrade the video card. Purchase an ATI Radeon 8500 which will run that came perfectly. Plus those cards are very affordable.

My monitor is old and outdated so I'll be getting a new and better one when the old one is spoilt.

    thanks all!

Yep - it was a monitor issue. I set the refresh rate a little lower manually, and it ran fine.

Need a better monitor I guess!

Wait! Can you try Warcraft 3 on your PC? I tried yesterday and my monitor can't show anything after the starting cinematics. I think there are some computer games that we can't play.

My lowest refresh rate is 60Hz. What's yours? I only have two resolutions to choose from. 800x600 and 1024x768! The maximum refresh rate is 85Hz.

    I'm stuck here!

I tried configuring the settings on the video driver settings but my monitor just can't show me the game menu. I can only hear the music and sound. My monitor goes to standby mode immediately. I can only use 72Hz on 1024x768 and I can't use further up than that. Anyway, I tried all the available refresh rates but I just can't play WC 3.

    I think I'm screwed completely.
