help improve score
my 3DMark 2003 score seemed very low 1100. I couldn't even run some of the tests (only 4of5 featured and 2or3audio).
AMD 2600+ 2.09GHz
NVIDIA TI4800 8xAGP
1.00 GB RAM
80 GIG HD
60 GIG HD
How can I up my score and get my comp running faster and better?

that score is pretty low. I have an Xp 2000 and a Radeon 8500 and i get about 1200. What OS do you have? Have you upgraded to the latest video drivers? MAKE sure that you have no Anti-Ailaising on or Anisotropic Filtering while running the test. Also make sure all the tests are run at default settings.

Your score depends on more than just the vid card and CPU. What is the memory throughput of your mobo. What FSB (133,166,???) are you running and what type of system memory (PC2100,2700,3200,???) are you using? These will all impact your score.

Make sure all of your gfx cards properties are set to default under the control panel options and that vsnyc is disabled when benching

You need a video card that supports DX9 to completly run 3dMark2003.

Yeah thats part of the reason you score is fairly low, however there is still plenty of room for improvment

When i have vsync off i get this weird effect on my monitor of like.. the screen not lining up or something. What is that?
-
Your FPS is greater than your monitor refresh rate, causing a tearing effect, its normal. In everday usage i enable vsync for better image quality and to prevent tearing, however when benching we aim to test the machines full power, limiting your FPS to say 75FPS vsync limits or synchronises your FPS to the refresh rate of your monitor) isnt really gonna show us though is it. Thsu disable vsync when benchin or runnign particulalrly taxing games, leave it on for general usage though

how do i get into the setting to disable vsyync and the other options for benchmarking?
-
It can be done in the advanced display options in the control panel, or rivatuner will do it easy enough
