I agree with AllGamer, not very high expectations for a PC, Get the all mighty ATI Radeon 9800 Pro DDR2 256MB
I think its out - not 100%. If its not out, wait or get a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro without 256MB DDR2.

If you can afford it, Get an Athlon 64bit or XP3000+
Possibly SBAudigy or Live with any leftover change, onboard sound isnt up to much.

    Good value motherboard

At least change the powersupply to something better. Such as an Antec, Enermax, or Sparkle ps, no less than 400w.

Graphics and PSU are a major concern, your looking at at least a radeon 9500 Pro for a top end gamers machine nowadays and the PSU ideally should be arounf the 420W mark and from a decent and reliable manufacturer as opposed to the generic pre-bundled jobbies

how much more will the 64-bit technology cost when its released. if you upgrade in small amounts you wont be too far behind the tech curve and you wont waste tons of money on techj that will be half the price in 18 months.

As others have said, as Dream Machines go, my aspirations are higher -- several thousand $$ higher -- but that's one that could be built at a very reasonable cost so it's an attainable dream, which isn't a bad thing at all.

That's a very solid basic gaming computer, if you get a real power supply, at least 350W (maybe even 400-430W) and a good brand. The generic PS that comes with a low cost case like that is almost always total **** that doesn't even come close to the modest specs it claims. Trust me, it won't be reliable and may take the motherboard with it when it dies, so not a good risk.

The Radeon 9200 would do fine as a budget card to get you by until you could afford better, but if you're at all serious about gaming you'll want something more powerful as soon as you can afford it.

I'm not an extreme gamer as i have probably explain too many times so the 9800, although, a very sweet card would just waste my money.

I will however wait till Athlon 64.

Onboard sound is enough for me personal cause I won't be spending money on new speakers (6.1) anytime soon...If you've seen the picture of my current speakers then you'd understand...(That 15 inch monitor in that picture is no longer I now have a 19 inch)

    - Abit KR7-133
    - ATI all in Wonder Radeon 8500 DV
    - old PCI ATI Rage (for dual video)
    - Promise RAID
    - 48x12x48 Plextor CDRW

    - Lots of fans

that's about it, unless i forgot to mention something

    - oh yeah monitors
    19" + 17" Viewsonics

    anyways that ran pass $5000

so my next Upgrade "dream machine"

can easily go up to $10000

    most likely i'll get

    - AMD 64bit (whatever fastest speed is available then)
    - 3 or 4 Gig DDR-2 of RAM
    - ATI 9800 All in Wonder (or whatever newer from ATI)
    - might get a Wall projector and paint my wall white (instead of monitors)
    - 4 or 8 HDD Serial ATA (Maxtor 320 GB)
    - Promise RAID most likely
    - dunno which mobo yet, no yet decided, need more reviews
    - SB Audigy 2 or Audigy 3
    - fastest DVD-RW from Plextor or Yamaha
    - a good DVD player
    - 2 nics again
    - recycle crappy 56k pci fax modem
    - new set of logitech wireless optical mouse+keyb
    - recycle logitech digital/web cam
    - new Logitech 680z speakers with the remote
    - and add even more fan for all that heat
    - and of course a full tower case

i estimate that to be around $10000
