    Interesting Hotkeys

Just found a new one - ever been tired of not having windows open up the same position as last time.

Hold ctrl key while you close a window will remember its final position.

    Anyone got any interesting TIPS

    - what is the hotkey for closing all open windows???

I'm not a hundred percent sure but if you hold down Alt and press Print Screen, it will take a screenshot of the selected window only, not the whole screen.

in office: some of the ones above apply but a few good ones are

    Copy formatting

    CTRL+SHIFT+C
    Copy formatting from text
    CTRL+SHIFT+V
    Apply copied formatting to text

    CTRL+SHIFT+>
    Increase the font size
    CTRL+SHIFT+<
    Decrease the font size

I use there a lot. But for word i use the outline view to create my documents anyway cause its WAY to difficult to writte a 100Page report and apply formating to it later.
LEARN how to use the outline mode!!! and how to change the style. all in the office help files

also quite cool and usefull. as u know when u hold the ctrl key and click on files folder u select all of them. This works with the taskbar as well. u can select several apps/windows and close them together or cascade them etc etc. try it quite usefull.

just remember. most things you can do with one thing you can also do with another thing or even in another program. Most of the stuff is interchangable and u dont have to relearn things in windows. THIS is why windows is one of the most succesfull GUI in the market. simple, getting better but u can always use the stuff u used in earlier versions.

This is only usefull to know for people who dont spend all there time on their machine (like me) who know this stuff and learned it by trial and error (mostly error).
I reccon most users on this forum with over 500 post know nearly all shortcut keys which are used often or are usefull and know their GUI inside out.

EDIT: I keep saying OS instead of GUI dam it
