what would you do with $200?

    here's my current setup:

    AthlonXP 1700+ JIUHB @ 2200MHz (11X200)
    ASUS A7N8X Deluxe
    512MB PC2100
    GeForce3 Ti 500 @ 250/570
    WD 60GB HD (Master)
    WD 30GB HD (Slave)
    TDK 12/10/32 CD-RW

now, my question is: where best is my $200 put? i'm looking to finish upgrading my comp for a lil while now as i've just replaced the mobo, chip, and hd a lil farther back. should i get faster memory? or how about a new 9500pro? i'm just not sure, so i'll leave it up to you all to help me decide. thanks in advance.

...that's not exactly what i was thinking...

but anyways, i'm thinking the 9500pro is sounding pretty good. what about a 9700 non-pro though for only about $25 more? would the extra two days worth of lunch be worth it for the lil extra protection on "future-proofing" my comp? yeah, my "old" geforce3 is starting to show its age. max payne slows to a crawl with everything turned on.

    How big's your monitor Lildude?

If you regularly play at 1024x768 and below keep the 25 bucks and have lunch. If you like to go bigger, then go for the 9700 non-pro. They're both good cards.

How know your fsb is 200, but what's your PC2100 memory running at? I'm assuming its not 200 since thats pretty far out of spec for PC2100... I think either a memory upgrade (PC3200 if you're running a 200fsb) or a video card as you suggested would be the most worthwhile upgrades.

rugor: i'm on a sony trinitron 15"-er. hey, don't laugh, it's been really good to me. so i generally play at 1024x768 or 1280x1024.

ramon: currently, i have the pc2100 ram overclocked to pc2400. completely stable at 2-2-2-6-1T.

I would get a 19" display and a bigger desk to hold it.

    I still run a 15" too. So I won't laugh, and I game at 1024.

Thanks Bill I knew I could count on you.

But all kidding aside it's a flatscreen CRT with a touch more viewable area than most 15" monitors, and because it's sharp and crisp I always buy something else whenever I get upgrade money.
