Next Stop in the War Tour: Syria?

    http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...s_military_291

WASHINGTON - Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld issued a stern warning to Syria on Friday to stop sending military equipment to Iraqi forces, saying such shipments have included night-vision goggles.

"We consider such trafficking as hostile acts and will hold the Syrian government responsible for the incidents," Rumsfeld said at a Pentagon (news - web sites) briefing.

"There's no question but that to the extent that military supplies or equipment or people are moving across the borders between Iraq (news - web sites) and Syria, it vastly complicates our situation," Rumsfeld said.

Asked if the United States was threatening military action against Syria, Rumsfeld said: "I'm saying exactly what I'm saying. It was carefully phrased."

"We have information that shipments of military supplies have been crossing the border from Syria into Iraq, including night-vision goggles," he said.

And what's it all about? Don't speculate... Read it in their own words:

US is really going on a rampage here lol. i guess you can only say "death to america" so many times before they get pissed off lol

i don't think they'll go after Syria right after this. although the troops are already there and Bush probably won't be re-elected anyway, he probably won't want to be the president to have 2.5 wars during his 4 year term (afganistan was half a war)

I think the only thing that will keep him from going after Syria right away might be going after Iran first (will Libya get its shot, too?)... maybe they'll just do it all at once and consider them all fronts of the same so-called 'war on terror.' As long as their WHAM campaign keeps working in the states, I'm betting, it will keep on going.

maybe bush really should declare a war on Islam. it seems that only countries under the influence of Islam (sounds like a drug don't it ) are fanatical in wanting america dead.

Nah, he will just break out the nukes and end it all after he gets tired of hearing the press ask the same questions repeatedly, "Are you going after Syria next?"

Nah, no Syria. North Korea's next. That should occupy a few years and divert some more of the American tax base.

It will be Iran. We need not do much to set off the incendiary young people in that country. They are sick and tired of Islamic fundamentalist rule. But worse for those in power in Iran, 60% of their population is under thirty.
