I dont think that you can flash to the 9700pro seeing how it is a different gen of cards, the only thing you can do with your 9600pro would be to overclock it like a madman.
AMD Phenom II x4 940 @ 3.41GHZ : Asus M3A78-T : 8GB DDR2 800 : Acer 23" 1080P Widescreen : ATi Radeon HD 4870 : OCZ GameXtremE 850 Watt PSU

You can flash a 9500pro to a 9700pro, but not a 9600pro.

intratech2000,
Is it possible to flash a 9600 pro to 9700 pro?
If not what's the best thing to give it more bang?
It's for someone I'm trying help.
Thanks!
Nah a 9600PRO is a 9600PRO no MODS I know of that will change it into anything else.
I have no enhanced BIOS for 9600PRO cards so the best advise I can give is to get a good cooler like the Zalman VGA cooler and put it on the card and then overclock it....some 9600PRO will OC like crazy. The next step after that is Volt Modds.
edit: We don't recommend or use the 9600PRO at work since we use the 9700NP with custom BIOS to fill that space.
Sorry

Win XP SP1 and DX 9.0b
K7S5A mobo w Honey X BIOS
Athlon 1.67GHz overclocked bus from 133/133 to 138/138 so processor speed is now 1.72GHz
512MB 333MHz DDR RAM with the benefits of overclocked bus
Radeon 9600 Pro (the crappy EZ version) with overclocked core using Radclocker to 430MHz and mem to 230MHz (DDR effective therefore 460MHz)
1024x768 @ 75Hz refresh
3D mark 2003 scor of - 2835
Overclocking the card only increased my score by about 200...worth it for the amount you stand to lose? Hell yes LOL
I plan to put individual heat sinks on my mem chips somewhen soon and bump the mem clock up a bit more...let you know how it goes

If you have a thoroughbred you should be able to clock a little higher (at least 2GHz). You can also try lowering the multiplier and using a higher FSB, your RAM makes up to 166MHZ for sure, if you are lucky you can maybe even go over 200MHz,.
