I agree, overclocking the AGP port does not improve performance of the video card. It will improve throughput which can translate to better framerates depending on the game being played. Quake3 for example benefits quite a bit from an overclocked AGP port.

Btw the a7n8x-D doesnt automatically lock the AGP, it only auto-locks the PCI, the AGP must be locked manually in the BIOS. Also, the AGP frequency and the AGP '2/4/8x' rating are unrelated AFAIK.
The A7N8X by default has the AGP port automatically locked. It has to be manually adjusted to overclock it. I have the A7N8X rev 2.0 non-Deluxe. The Deluxe version of the board may be that way.

Theres no poitn overclocking the AGP bus anyhows, as it does nothing whatsoever for performance, see this for futhur details:

I did a test and increased the AGP port speed three times. I ran 3dmark03 three times at each increase and then averaged the score. Here are the results.
66 Mhz: 4908
70 Mhz: 4913
77 Mhz: 4921
Minor increases, but increases nevertheless.

Minor increases that could be explained simply by standard random score fluctuations or activity of bacgroud apps. Either way, i still dont see the point in increasing the AGP bus speed which is potneitally very volatile for the sake of a negligible gain in synthetic benchmarks

PC Mark 2002 Seems Low
Because their is no PC MARK 2002 benchmarking thread I'll just post it here. I think my PC MARK might be alittle low for what my system is putting out. Take a look at my specs and tell me what you think, should it be higher?
P4 OC 3.50GHz 1GHz FSB HT (2.8GHz 800MHz FSB)
GeIL 1GB PC4000 DDR500
200GB Western Digital Ultra ATA 7200RPM 8MB Cache
OCS Enhanced Radeon 9800 Pro Heat Pipe Cooling 256MB DDR AGP 8x 445/740MHz
Abit IC7-G Intel 875P Chipset Serial RAID
CPU Score: 8547
Memory Score: 11230
HD Score: 2100
It seems like I shouldv'e scored in the 10k's with my CPU... hmm is there some settings I could change to increase that?

You've said it youself
Geforce 3 ti500
Running this test on a card that does not have hardware support for direct X 9 specific visual features will seriously cripple your score, also the gf3 is a bit long in the tooth for the games of tomorrow

I dare say his graphics card is probably a bit faster. Mark 03 is heavily reliant on your GFX card rather than you system as a whole, as such you can have the fastest CPU in the world but unles syou have a fast gfx card you aint gonna score anything remarkable, unlike 3dmark2001 which took the whole system into account
Jack, to boost your score i suggest you try doing the following, resetting all AA AF and Vsync settings to disabled in the visual control panel, and then, overclockign the video card using the following method

I got pie!!!
Phat, Allgamer had this theory which i can find sensible, but don't know the truth of,
2...... is for g2 series really
3...... is for the g3
4...... is for the g4
but i found the 23.11 was the best for my old g2mx.
Life is a bowl of cherries
