Sound Test Issues
It shold not surprise me that Sound Blaster cards do not run all of the tests. They make a pretty good product, but I think they are a little lazy on the driver issues. It may be the bench, but SB is still lazy lol

A couple of points:
Asus doesn't make any sound solutions, the best onboard sound on any of their boards is that in the nforce2 chipsets.
Also, only the four game tests contribute to the 3DMark03 score. Being able to do the last sound test won't add any points.
Sorry guys.

asus may not make sound solutions, but believe me, the soundmax audio kit thats bundled with mine supports 5.1 sound, and sounds as good as any sound card i've yet heard. It's no audigy 2 but then i never expected it to be it even has this ai thing where it detects what has been plugged in!!

You have a little better sound then I do on mine(I notice yours looks like a newer version). The sound on the ASUS P4PE is still not that bad at all. I can not tell any difference between that and the Sound Blaster Live Digital Dolby that I have installed right now. Once in a while I may hear a small crackle or something of that nature.
My point is though, is that Creative is (this is my opinion), not that great on releasing decent drivers, or support at all. They have been on top too long. I wish another company would come along and kick their **** because of their lack of driver updates/support. Problem is, if you are a gamer like me, all games are going to support Creative first.
I have not heard the new cards by Creative, so what do I know lol--hey, I just like to complain, what can I say

if you're interested in kick *** sound, check out this stuff
http://www.m-audio.com/products/consumer/index.php
cheaper than the audigy 2 platinum and the like, and gives it a good run for its money - 7.1 surround!!
the external options are also better for pro use than the extigy as they record in true 24/96.
rock on

Looks like a real nice card, and a very good price($90 at newegg w/free shipping). Reviews at newegg were mixed. Some said it was good for games, others not. I play a little guitar, and also have a Guitar Port by Line-6, so this may be what I want, when I decide to part with a bill that is. Any one have one, and also play games on it?? Any one have one and do any recording on it??

Dell often ships lower clocked GPUs than are sold retail, so you often pay the price of a 9800 Pro for a 9800 Non-pro, just like the Dell only 9700 TX with slower RAMDACs.
