Having a DX 9 card really helps in this benchmark.

Incidentally, a few of my friends with GeForce 4s are having a hellish time with DirectX9, but it's been as good as gold for me. Anyone else having problems with it?

Granted, but that shouldn't affect DirectX, which is supposed to be fully backward compatible, isn't it?
GeForce 4 cards are hardly out of date, so it's seems strange that everyone that I know personally who has tried to install DirectX9 has had problems.
Not that I have that many friends, you understand.
It's a very small sample.
3, in fact.

That's what the Article actually explain
yeah DX 9 is "backward" compatible
But those TEST were not made to test old stuff
was made to test DX 9 feature
which non of our cards can do
except any 9500 and 9700
that's why nVidia was so pissed

I understand.
The thing is, they're having problems generally, not with 3DMark2003. Games tend to lock up in the menu screens, stuff like that.
I've told them not to bother with DX9 and stick with 8.1, but it's seems wrong that Microsoft have released a version that is not happy with all but the most recent of technology.
