K7za & 1800xp
Hi guys,
here's my system specs -
athlon tbred 1800xp
ecs k7vza 3.2 bios
512 mb crucial ram
win xp pro
wd 80 gig 8mb
radeon 9100 128
I just upgraded cpu from 1gig tbird and vid from gf2 mx.
When it boots up the mb bios calls the cpu unknown type and clocks it at 1.53 ghtz. According to sandra 202 pro it is close to the specs of the correct cpu but is a little slower about, 200-300 whatever they are units on cpu benchmarks.
My question is should I bother with the risks of flashing the mb bios (never done it before) I've read some horror stories, or just leave it alone, will flashing bring more power(?) from the cpu or not ?
Thanks in advance,
Alivin

You definitely need to update the BIOS. You should go back to the old CPU for doing this (will say, you should have updated the BIOS before changing CPUs).
