    Why so cheap?

Looking for a Radeon 9700 pro and found this on Pricewatch
    http://www.fticomputer.com/cgis/deta...8B&ses=&cat=VB

That's $223. There always seem to be really cheap prices at Pricewatch but I don't trust them. What's the word here? Anybody?

I see where this is the non-pro. Pro, non-pro what is dieeference. I guess this post should be moved to video or deals section, sorry.

It's not an ATi for one and it's not a "Pro" either.

    The pro is clocked higher.

Radeon 9500 128mb cards can be turned into 9700s with a small amount of solder on one resistor. Since they are going for $180 on newegg, this is pretty cool.
This is where my signature would go if I wasn't so lazy.

I just saw an article on that Giblet+! ****! I'm gonna get me one of those right now. It seems the 9700 can be easily OC to pro levels but then I guess you could OC the pro even higher? Or is the RAM really the same and the clocking the only difference?

I paid too much for a hercules gf3 because it was 'very overclockable' and had this great ram blah blah blah. It doesn't overclock worth a ****. I'd be careful if you're buying a card and counting on it to overclock. It doesn't always happen

Actually, the hercules 9700 pro is not bad. The Tyan Tachyon G9700 pro is the clear winner, however.

And since the 9700 pro core is at the limit, not too many make it to the required clock speed. I wouldn't exactly count on a 9700 reaching 9700 pro speeds.

A friend of mine is having issues with Tyan at the moment. He just sent his Tachyon back to Monarch computers inc.

None of the cards shipped had the monitoring hardware or software issued with the cards.

    FALSE ADVERTISEMENT.

Monarch had stated that their return rate of the Tachyon has reach unsuccesful levels. Their also may be a lawsuit imposed on Tyan.
