LCD vs FLAT CRT??
small question:
if you had an option between a good brand 15" LCD and another good brand 17" flat CRT, which would you pick??
main concerns: durability (i would hate having to throw it because of its short life) and environment friendliness (the less the radiation the better)
thanks in advance

Go with the CRT Flat Screen. They are way cheaper and have a better picture.

but don't the LCD's have longer lifes and no radiation??

The amount of radiation that a monitor puts out is very small. Not near what a TV puts out. My dad has a LCD 15" and I like the CRT flatscreens better..

For some reason, I find that LCDs just don't look right...the colours or something, but I can't put my finger on it.

I will tell you one thing. The HP Pavilion MX75 is just the same thing as the MX70 except that there is another piece of glass that is flat over top of it.
To be more clear it is the normal rounded CRT with a flat piece of glass over top of it. It is so obvious.

The better monitors have a second pane of glass as you call it. This is usually there to take care of screen glare or reduce it. LCD displays consume much less power than CRTs. Somewhere around 30-40 watts while CRTs run around 200watts or so. I still prefer the picture on a CRT over an LCD.
If looks, power consumption, and space are your main concerns... go with the LCD. If those aren't high on your priority list, then save the money and get yourself a nice CRT.

CRT is way better. It's cheaper and has small dot pitch.

panchos is correct.
My friend has an NEC 15" LCD.. highest it does is 1024x768 @ 75Hz.
Very annoying to use.
So, definately a flat CRT.

LCD is expensive, have low refresh rate, has big dot pitch. While CRT is inexpensive, high refresh rate, and has small dot pitch.

CRT
I'd definitely go for the 17 inch CRT because its cheaper and has better picture. The refresh rates on CRTs are also better.
