I had so much fun with the imperial repeater gunning down stormtroopers.
This is where my signature would go if I wasn't so lazy.

Wow!! I just got my old Packard Bell 486 going again over the weekend. It used to be a 486 SX-25, but I whacked in a DX-4 100 overdrive chip and it has been fairly well flying. ( Relatively speaking of course ). I just have to put in a larger hardrive for all of my daughters Sesame Street games etc, and for a serious question, will these old boards recognise a 13GB hard drive.? Its currently running WIN95 b, hopefully it will.

For Windows work etc, these old things still go great, I need a bit more than 8MB ram though, lol.

If it dosnt reconize the HDD most HDD's have a jumper setting that will limit the HDD to a significantly smaller size and hopefully that will be reconized by the computer if the full size wont. Good Luck

My first personal computer was a laptop.

But I remember playing games on the apple e2's we had at school. I remember when the color monitors came out.
We would fight over who would get to work on em.
Lost 10,000 miles from home and loving it!!

Yes, the setting whould limit its block size so it comes out to 8GB or something; it's very possible the motherboard's controllers suffer from the 8.4GB limitation but you can always get a controller card to exceed that.

raywise, that Packard Bell uses the same motherboard as my Packard Bell, mine has a DX2-66. I have a friend who has a Packard Bell SX-33. He had a 2gb hard drive while using *cough* overlay software.

At my primary school we also had apple computers and they had some games which were about maths.

I guess ppl who've had to live for a decade on a 486 are a bit more patient.

I was using that 486 for 5 years. For 5 years, it was my fastest computer.

I was always envious of folks 'rich' enough to have a 486. We had the ol' 386 sx/33 from ~1990 (after I'd fried 3 286 mobos from intense Ultima IV & V gaming ) to 1997. Doom I think ran on it. Xwing staggered immensely. But Civilization ran fine. I remember getting the 4 MEG RAM DRAM upgrade -- 30 pin SIMMS, costing *too much* (I really don't remember).

Yes, nostalgia. I'm glad I'm old enough to appreciate a good flashback.

I'll bet my Athlon XP 2400+ will kick your 486's a**.
Gee, ya think so.... (not without CV's help...)

DON'T YOU GUYS GET IT AT ALL? THE 486 IS DEAD, DIED A LONG, LONG TIME AGO. NOBODY USES THEM ANYMORE. IT'S TIME TO GET BIGGER AND BETTER THINGS AND MOVE ON!! (486 sighted on starboard bow! Come right to course 0-3-0. Open torpedo tubes 1 and 2. Fire 1! Fire 2! Both fish hit the 486! She's going down!)
