Upgrading an old video card

I'm trying to decide whether to get a Geforce4 440MX or an older Radeon (7500, 8500). The old comp is a P3 500 Mhz, 160 MB PC100 RAM, FSB is 100 Mhz. Would a Geforce4 440MX be worth it, or should i go for the Radeon for about $30 less?

I would go for the Radeon 8500 . Its a way better deal than the Gforce 4 mx.

I would NOT get any MX video card. Go with the Radeon or GF ti series (GF 3 or 4).

Gf3 ti200 or Radeon 8500 .. they may be overkill for your system, but it needs all the extra it can get

Ask the your computer's motherboard's newsgroup what the best option is for that motherboard.

Motherboards are often finicky about the video cards they run.

Search for "mainboard" to find the alt. motherboard newsgroups.

Depending on where you are, you can get a Geforce3 ti200 for $69 with shipping.

This will be better than a radeon 7500 and geforce4 mx (for gaming), since it has full support for DirectX 8.1 features.

Get a Radeon 8500LE 64mb edition. They are in the $80's..

But you won't always know what you're getting. Some of the powered by ATI cards aren't of the greatest quality. Just ask $1500-P4 gamer:

For that price, GeForce3 Ti200 would have better compatibility with older hardware, not falling far from R8500 in performance. R8500 would be greatly bottlenecked by slow CPU.
