OCing Laptops
Curious to hear thoughts about OCing laptops using something like SoftFSB.
Lappies run hot, so something interesting would probably have to be done for cooling...

there is an Asus notebook that has a P4 2GHz in it.. in the bios of this lil lappy.. it has FSB adjustments, but no voltages, and the max was 2.2 before it would thermally throttle back... but it was faster than a Dell 2GHz desktop machine when overclocked...

The cpu in my laptop is a 500 Mhz celeron.
But in sandra it says something about it being rated as a 533Mhz chip (or something about it's max speed being 533)
Do they place under clocked cpu's in laptops to extend life?
I have had this laptop for 2 over years.
Lost 10,000 miles from home and loving it!!

Usually you don't want to overclock too much on laptops. there isn't space to add bigger heatsinks or watercoolers, etc., so there's more chance of heat damage, or at least instability. The designers only calculate for normal heat dispersion, so overclocking the cpu might overwhelm the cooling system.
