    1x or 4x AGP

    Hi,

Is there any real performance boost between 1x and 4x AGP?
Because on my video card I try to set it on 4x and it stays at 1x reported in SiSanta2002. I change the bios to 4x and still is at 1x.

So is there any main difference between 1x and 4x AGP?

    Thanks,

    Alex.

In benches 2x to 4x is not much change at all. Same with 4x to 8x.

yeah, there isn't a really big different between 2x and 4x, so i am wondering what is the point of having to deal with them?

I'll agree to that... not a major increase...although it is still an increase....

THE MOST IMPORTANT FACT ABOUT #x AGP

you need the correct #x AGP to be able to run the latest 3D Cards.

for example you can't stick a GF4 in a 1x/2x AGP slot, either the GF4 will die, or the mobo will die

and that's what it comes down to

My motherboard supports AGP 4x. This can't really be true about that the video card or motherboard will die!!!!
