Problem with Fdisk and format w/80GB drive
Hey guys,
I just wanted to let you know about a bug I came across with FDISK and FORMAT from the WIN98 start-up disk in case you run across it. I was partitioning my friends new 80GB WD drive and I used the option to make the whole drive one partition in FAT32. However, instead of reporting the drive as 80GB, it reported it as 10GB. I then formatted this drive and it said it was formatting a 10GB drive. However, when the format was complete, it did indeed say that it has 80GB free. I then installed XP PRO (XP won't let you install FAT32 on a drive this big, unless you partition and format the drive as FAT32 first) and it saw the full 80GB size. Hopefully, I have eliminated a few headaches with this info.

There is a fixed fdisk here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;q263044
But as you found out, it is only a display issue, not an actual problem.

Another option is to use the FreeDOS fdisk, which is better than fdisk from MS.
