What are the symptoms of max OC? PLEEASE HELP>...
I"m using a PIII 800eb processor. I've OC my processor to 900mhz right now, i'm afraid that i might burn my comp. How do i know when should i stop? In other words, what are the symptoms of overclocking too much??
Thanks for all your time and effort, thanks

I doubt you'll burn it out by pushing it too far. Try going higher - once if becomes unstable, back it down to the last setting and run something that really stresses the CPU. Make sure your memory is happy at the speeds you are running at, you're starting at 133 so a lot of memory will **** out real early...
You might need to notch up your voltage a bit...

A friend of mine had a Celly 633 overclocked to 790 for two years, ran solid for him. Running your 800 at 900 is not going to do any damage at all. Highest I have seen PIII Katmai's go is 200 MHz over there manufactured speed. You have to remember that the CPU's come underclocked from the factory, hence a 800 would be an underclocked 850 or a 900. Overclocking by 100 MHz IMHO is not overclocking at all. A max OC though would be 1.1 or 1.2 GHz if the CPU could reach that high. In that case, it would be 6 months to 1 year before you would start seeing BSOD and lockups. The bigger the OC, the better of a heatsink you will need.
The GlobalWin VOS32 is good for this purpose.

you system will become unstable!
random lockups,
if you have an onboard thermal sensor you can check the temprature of the cpu, motherboard...
download mother board monitor!

My Coppermine 800EB worked at 1.13GHz with no problems.
Now it works at 1GHz: 0.13GHz don't make much change in speed, but only increase temperatures.

You will know when, if the temperature gets over 60 degrees C, or if the system becomes very unstable.. If this happens, just clock down until the temp becomes acceptable or until the system is stable...
