hmm.... i thought this was clearly explained last time

the problem is not with how much RAM or CPU you have

it's how Win95/98/ME is so useless at MANAGING all that to provide it evenly or properly for the programs to use

the 2nd problem is due the software you run

"correctly" programmed software should have released back all the memory and resources and threads back to Win9x after it's closed

but unfortunately over 95% of the software, games etc, you'll find for Win9x, doesn't do that

so that's how they all gone up in the air.

    if you want a fix

    switch to Win2k or WinXp

What are you loading at boot up? If I do not load anything except Systray and Explorer, I get 96%. Turn on AV,OE and Taskbar Display and Volume control, I'm at 81%. Trim down what's loading and you'll see Resources increase, but like AG says, as soon as you open close things they won't all be be released.

I'd rather not go out and pay that much money for a copy of xp or 2k. I would use either but would need a copy. Most of my softwear should run fine on xp... Not sure about 2k .. Which would you prefer since i am using lots of 98 supported programs. Next is finding a copy of either for myself :-)
    Thanks,

Having too many fonts, having window animation on, and having too many programs start up can eat away at system resources.
