Some pop-up stoppers will also prevent pop-ups on sites where the pop-up is actually a plus or intended.

Hey, I'll third the Opera comments! Bought the ad-free version of the browser several months ago. It's got so many nice features built in that now I feel naked without it.

The cool thing is it's really easy to turn pop-up blocking on or back off for sites where you actually need the pop-ups.

Anyway, you asked about pop-up blocking, and my browser itself has been a great solution for me.
