    what are the file extentions for drivers?

    I want to search for all my drivers and save to a CD........... I have searched for vxd, drv, and dll...........is there any more extentions to locate?

    Yes an important one would be .inf, if you don't remove these when you install a similar new device then they can conflict causing aggravation with installing.

    thanks........ My objective is to find all my drivers for ALL devices and save them in one place......this was suggested to me by a friend and it sounded like a great idea.........now and then I get that one piece of hardware that I cant locate the driver for , so I thought that now I could tell the sys where to loo( CD Drive).

    Think this will work?

    pulling drivers from the hd is a pain. why don't you just download the drivers from the manufacturer's website instead? I think it would save you a lot of time.

    just go into your device manager and select the device.. then go to the properties of that device and view the driver details.... search for them , then copy them into a labeled folder so there is no file duplications and then procede to the next one.. burn it to cd and Bobs your Uncle.


    but downloading from the manufacturers site is easier...

    I was just thinking that getting the drivers from the website would also be the most up to date. There might be some old drivers that need updating anyways. I'm just lazy.

    On second thought just remembered WinDriver Expert will collect all your drivers for backup you can get it HERE a good one stop utility for scrounging all your drivers.

    hi guys

    here is a prog that save your hardware drivers in an optional folder,so that u can refer to it later to reinstall your hardware after formating the HD.

    really wonderfull.
