    Audigy problems

Can't seem to reinstall Audigy card.

Yesterday booted my system, seemed like I was in protected modus but I wasn't, screen at 640*480, couldn't bring it back to 1152*864 16 bit colors.
Also, mouse cursor disappeared, wouldn't detect mouse anymore.
Managed to get the screen back to normal and get the mouse to work, took me about 3 to 4 ours to figure out how to fix those problems.

But main problem now is that I have no sound. Tried everything I could think of, including the suggestions from the technical support site from Creative, AM GOING NUTS!!

Here's what I've tried allready, in system config, deleted every Audigy related thing, also anything software related.
After reboot installed Audigy drivers, ask for reboot, said no, tried sound, worked.
After reboot finishes install, but then no sound or Audigy card detected.
Ran creative diagnostic, failed everything except Audigy presence detection, strange.
Also tried all of the above with deleting every entry related to the Audigy in the registry.

    Reinstalled Directx 8.1, nothing.

Tried system restore but it didn't work.

Pleaze, anybody, help me out!! Before I throw my computer out of the Window.
Unless you don't care of course.

    System specs.

    AMD XP 1800+
    Windows ME
    Directx 8.1
    Win XP Pro SP3
AMD Athlon 64 5000+ Black edition
    2 Gb DDR2 Transcend Ram (2x 1 Gb)
    Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3

    Peak Radeon HD3870

Why? I mean, it was a working system. It's just that when I booted up yesterday everything got screwed up.
I think you can rule out an IRQ conflict.

I think it's something with the software (Windows)

No chase, it's your worse nitemare

    it's an IRQ thing

that's why your VIDEO was also messed up.

go to your BIOS and dissable ACPI, then setup your IRQs to be unique for each card.

and you are set to go

Ooh man. Is it supposed to work right away or do I have to install all the drivers of the Audigy again, because, it's still doing nothing.

Well, no luck. Something must be really wrong.
    Guess I'll format.

Cheers and thanx for the input.

What's the directx 8.1 AMD patch, I mean what does it fix?
Anyhow, reinstalled windows me without formatting the C: drive.

Everything was still intact, luckily every software was still on the drive.

The reinstall seemed to have done it, I had sound again, but, after install of creative software, the mixer and taskbar and other stuff after reboot got the message, soundcard didn't install properly please reinstall drivers. (During driver install the setup program hung, reinstalled probably 4 to 5 times, no luck)

Now I still had sound, but after running creative diagnostic almost everything checked out right except the mixer and soundfonts.

So, should be happy that I have sound again but I want everything working, so before I went to sleep formatted the C: drive.

After work I'll try installing software and see if that fixes the problems.
