    Weird IE problem

I am using Internet Explorer 6.0 (upgraded trying to fix this problem) and when I open it, it won't work. It just sits their trying to open the home site. If I click on the stop button and change the location of the proxy then it starts working.

My guess is there is some kind of corruption in the settings. I would appreciate any light you could shed on this.

I failed to mention that I am using Microsoft Proxy client on this machine hooking to a Window 2000 Small Business Server. The client machine, the one with the problem is NT 4.0 service pack 6a high encryption.

i do know that WinME can not use IE6
and that was stated by Microshaft themself, cuz of an internal problem in WinME, so i am just going to assume the same for NT4

    i never upgrade IE past 5.5 spk2.
since i don't use IE at all.

it simply is not worth the time and risk.

    i use Mozilla

Oops, I didn't know that IE 6 doesn't like ME. I have two puters on that OS, and both like IE 6.

I should have put in my original post that I installed Mozilla to see if that would solve the problem but to no avail. One other tidbit, I can FTP from the command window and that works.

    It doesn't kill Windows Explorer.

I have over 200 NT 4.0 computers that run everything form IE 4 to IE 6 with no problems. This is one of those situations, I have never come across.
