Sounds like it is overheating, a good check is to take off your side panels and check that your fans are still working. While you are there, see all that dust and fluff in there? acts as an insulator, so get a NEW unused two inch paint brush and(while the machine is powered down) give it a good thrashing and get all that muck outta there and finish off with a real good vacuum. Now make sure you havent dislodged any cables etc and leave the sides off and see if there is an improvement on crashes. Like leave the pc on all day and see if will crash. Then post back. good luck.

This can be because of a default processor voltage regulation issue

Especially with the Soyo SY-K7VTA-B motherboard with the earliest BIOS, some motherboards have a automatic processor
voltage regulation problem of bug of setting it *too high*.
You should check your motherboard manufacturer's web site.

    PC Freezing

Well said....it could also be a bad power supply. Just a thought.

my ideas are that the system is overheating also..

maybe its time for a defrag?

maybe you should readjust your virtual memory?

is it a name brand or custom built computer? i have seen some name brand computers that came with restore disks that were corrupt. when ever the computer acted up the first thing the tech support or even the owner would do is use the restore disk. the problem was never solved. had to either copy the installation files to another medium or just changed os's. that usually fixed the problem.

also when was the last time you used scandisk? also the other suggestions are also correct but do scandisk and then defragment. also check the temp files. if the temp directory is large (many files in it) this can also cause freezing.
