    HELP!! Chaintech CT-7AJA2E motherboard issue!!

My Chaintech CT-7AJA2E motherboard has the following issue:

In the frequency/voltage control section in the BIOS,
the "CPU Vcore select" option is missing.

That means if I need to change the processor voltage,
I will be unable to do so !!!!!!

There are *no* jumpers for *anything* Vcore related.

    Re: Chaintech CT-7AJA2E motherboard issue

I have the *latest* BIOS update (rev. 12/05/2001).
The *first* thing I did *before* even partitioning my HDD,
was flash the BIOS, and even when I *reflash* the earlier
revisions, including rev. 4/11/2002, still the Vcore is *not there*.

There are *no* jumpers for *anything* Vcore related.

My BIOS flashes *did not* fail.

All writes indicated successful in the AWDFLASH utility.

So what makes you think that the VCore settings should be there - the manual?

Between you and me, if you need to boost voltage for stability, it's going to be trouble anyway. When I OC, I leave voltage alone and boost FSB 'til just before it becomes unstable and leave it there. Higher voltage = higher heat.

    Re: Chaintech CT-7AJA2E motherboard issue

I *don't* want to raise the voltage!

But, what if the processor Vcore is too high?

    It's at 1.82V.

    Even if I want to, I can't change it to 1.79V .

I might be getting lockups if I cannot lower the processor
    voltage!

I don't know what to say. Does the manual indicate that you should have voltage adjustment? If not, I'm afraid that you're stuck.

Yes, the manual *does* indicate I should have the
    CPU Vcore select.

It's possible that Chaintech actually removed that option in a BIOS update. It would be highly unusual, but quite possible. Have you checked the notes on the various updates? Can you download an older BIOS?

Well, I hate to tell you, even when I reflash with
*any older BIOS*, still *no* Vcore select option.

I guess that someone needs to shop for a new motherboard.
